One of the more important things a stylish girl can do is to give of her heart, her time and her money. Charity wins – time and again. As you know, October is breast cancer awareness month. Although significant strides have been made in the past ten years, breast cancer remains a killer and it’s our job to make sure that women everywhere are educated and that breast cancer research is well funded. If you want some of the latest statistics, visit the American Cancer Society site or view this report: http://www.cancer.org/acs/groups/content/@nho/documents/document/f861009final90809pdf.pdf
SO, all of that being said…do you NEED a better excuse to go shopping? Thousands of brands are supporting the cause by offering products (in pink, of course) that help benefit breast cancer research, support programming and fund other important initiatives to help end this disease. I encourage you to take the remaining two weeks of October to seek out gifts (for you and others) that aid the cause. Here are a few of my favorites:
Dive into bags, keychains and scarves (my favorite) that help the cause: http://www.coach.com/online/handbags/SearchResultsView?storeId=10551&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&quickOrder=yes&searchKeyword=breast%20cancer&cacheKeyword=BREAST%20CANCER
You can always count on Clinique for their dedication to women’s issue AND fanastic shades of pink! They have an entire section of their website dedicated to the cause: http://www.clinique.com/cms/whats_new/wn_bca2010.tmpl
How many pairs of sneakers do I have? Enough…BUT I don’t have a pink pair. Now I can get loads of pink sweaty gear thanks to Reebok. This is a company that understands women! Check out their “pink ribbon” line here: http://www.reebok.com/US/style/womens/avon/all
I love cashmere…you should too. So if you dig this season’s wildly popular leopard print trend AND pink AND cashmere – ta da! http://www.whiteandwarren.com/shop-pink
Mix it up! These tools are FUN. I can’t claim that anyone needs pink appliances but depending on your decor, maybe you do. Either way, Kitchen Aid has a great “Cook for the Cure” campaign that will help you channel your inner Betty Crocker: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/cftc-products-list/
Those are just a few of the products out on the market right now that support breast cancer awareness. If you shop with your eyes open you are bound to find many more treasures. Happy shopping!
