I don’t usually do restaurant write-ups but I thought it was worth sharing that I had a great meal at this new(er) restaurant in the South End. Noche (meaning “night” in Spanish) is a fun, hip spot tucked away on quaint Appleton Street. A rarity in Boston, it serves food until 1:30 in the morning. The vibe is funky and modern with a muted palette, metal artwork, white leather chairs, Moby-inspired tracks, intricate lighting and a lot of cozy banquet seating. We went on a Tuesday night so the scene was quite mellow but I’ve been told that this changes dramatically as of Thursdays and that the weekends are near club-like. By the looks of the bartenders, I wouldn’t doubt it.
So, Noche gets an “A” for style and uniqueness. What about the food? Delish. You can view their menu online. We dove in with Arugula salad and Tuna Tartare – both were perfectly garnished. For entrees, I enjoyed the pulled pork dish (so tender!) while my friend had a beautiful Chilean SeaBass that sat in a bed of tiny mushrooms. Dessert? Definitely…do not leave the restaurant without trying the warm french toast cake. Heaven.
