YAY! The markets are coming back. That makes me so happy.
The SoWa Open Market “opened” this past weekend welcoming a slew of fans and more new and different artists than last year. Located off Harrison Avenue, this market is convenient and full of goodies. In addition to arts and crafts there are a slew of organic farmers, local bakeries and (the newest addition) food trucks offering up some yummy dishes like pulled pork and cupcakes. The market is open on Sundays through October so be sure to check it out.
Another market I’m looking forward to is the Copley Square Farmers Market. This small market magically appears every Tuesday and Friday in front of Trinity Church starting in mid-May. Although there are a few artists sprinkled throughout, this is mainly a fruit/veggie/flower and baked goods market. It’s the perfect reason to venture outside the office and is also the perfect place to pick up some lunch or fresh goods for dinner.
What would I love to see? A permanent all-season public market that provides a place for Bostonians to shop local, shop organic and shop fresh. Want the same thing? Check out the Boston Public Market Association. This is a group hard at work trying to make this dream a reality. Get involved!
