Welcoming New Neighbors

27 Jan

I am so pleased that I am not writing about great stores closing their doors but rather about new stores opening up! It seems that Back Bay is getting a little more energized with the addition of some new neighbors.

Rag & Bone is opening a storefront at 115 Newbury (next to Alex and Ani). I love the hip clothes here. From sweet blouses to comfy tees, Rag & Bone is a great stop for cute, edgy clothes. You’ll find something for the Wednesday noon meeting and the Saturday night out

Room & Board, the fantastic modern furniture outpost is rumored to be taking up space at the top of Newbury in the current Sleeparama location. Boston is in desperate need of another cool furniture store downtown so this is just great news

Restoration Hardware who last lived on the corner of Boylston and Exter is coming back to Boston. They are currently renovating the Landmark building where LouisBoston last lived. This is a great space for the chain that carries massive furniture and other homegoods. I must say that I adore RH textiles so I am eagerly awaiting the opening

L.A. Burdick is about to open its new location at 220 Clarendon Street in the little shop that used to house Frank Stella Clothiers. This will be the fourth location for this fantastic shop. If you haven’t had chocolate from L.A. Burdick (like their signature chocolate mice or famous drinking chocolate) then you have not had chocolate! YUM

Crush Boutique is a great spot on Charles Street to find both adorable and cutting edge designers. They are about to open a second location at 264 Newbury. According to Boston.com, ” The new boutique, which focuses on casual and cocktail attire, will carry some clothing lines found in the Beacon Hill shop, including Alice + Olivia, Whitney Eve, Wink NYC, Shoshanna, Madison Marcus, Dolce Vita, Romygold and Rory Beca, but will offer different styles and items at each location. The shop will also carry some new-to-Boston brands at its Newbury Street location, including Boulee, House of Harlow 1960 Handbags, Brandy Melville, and Sam & Lavi.”

All of these new neighbors will surely receive a warm welcome as Newbury Street (and the whole of Back Bay) has seen its fair share of vacancies in the last few years. Want to see these stores thrive? Sad to see empty store fronts? Then shop local and often! Your neighborhoods need you.

Readers! I found out that the Room & Board location is going into the Sleeparama spot on Mass Ave – NOT into the Best Buy location. My apologies!
